US and Canadian citizens require a visa to travel to Brazil issued by a Brazilian Consulate. The volunteer must have a passport with at least 06 months expiration time. At the Brazilian Consulate, you will request a tourist visa and the cost is around US$45-65 for a three months visa. Volunteer Brazil will guide you through the application process.

European citizens are not required a travel visa to Brazil. You must only bring a valid passport to gain entry into Brazil.

In order to apply for a tourist visa you will need the following:

1. A passport valid for 6 months from the date of entry into Brazil. There must be at least one blank page for stamping the visa into the passport. If you have a new passport, please be sure to sign the passport when you receive it!

2. 02 photographs passport size 2 x 2 (snapshots are not accepted)

3. A completed application form provided by the Consular Service (Also remember to sign application once it is completed)

4. When completing the application form, make sure to fill out for a tourist visa.

5. The visa application fee varies between US$45-65. There is a service fee if applied with a visa agent. Payment can be made by company check or money order payable to the Brazilian Consulate. Personal checks or cash are sometimes not accepted (forms of payment may vary from Consulate to Consulate).
